Leave Hurghada early in the morning and travel by private bus toward Luxor, watching the landscape change from the Red Sea coast to the fertile Nile Valley. Upon arrival, board your Nile cruise and begin exploring Luxor's ancient temples, including Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, before settling into your cabin for the evening.

    Karnak Temple

Begin your Luxor sightseeing at Karnak Temple, one of the largest and most significant religious complexes of ancient Egypt. Walk through monumental pylons and the vast Great Hypostyle Hall while your Egyptologist explains how successive pharaohs expanded the temple complex over centuries. Its enormous columns, obelisks, statues, and sacred spaces reveal the scale of ancient Thebes.

    Luxor Temple

Later, visit Luxor Temple, located in the heart of modern Luxor along the eastern bank of the Nile. Unlike many ancient Egyptian temples, Luxor Temple is closely integrated with the modern city around it. Its colossal statues, towering columns, and ceremonial spaces provide a striking introduction to the religious and royal traditions of ancient Thebes.

    Colossi of Memnon

    Philae Temple

Take a short boat ride across the Nile to Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Begin at Dahshur, where the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid reveal important stages in the development of ancient Egyptian pyramid construction. The unusual shape of the Bent Pyramid and the successful design of the Red Pyramid provide a fascinating introduction to the architectural evolution that eventually led to the pyramids of Giza.

    Step Pyramid of Djoser

Continue to Saqqara, the vast necropolis of ancient Memphis, and explore the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the earliest large-scale stone pyramid in Egypt. Mausoleum of Mohammed V

Continue to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, known for its refined Moroccan craftsmanship, white exterior, and ceremonial setting beside Hassan Tower.

    Kasbah of the Udayas

Explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, a historic fortified neighborhood overlooking the Bou Regreg River and Atlantic. Walk through its narrow lanes and take in the contrast between whitewashed buildings, traditional architecture, and the surrounding coastal landscape.

    Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 11: Chefchaouen Blue Medina & Fes

Begin the morning surrounded by the blue streets of Chefchaouen before traveling to Fes, one of Morocco's great historic cities. Before exploring Morocco's historic cities, our Morocco culture and customs guide can help you understand local etiquette and traditions.

Visit Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar built from earthen architecture and positioned along historic caravan routes between the Sahara and Marrakech. Walk through its narrow passages and climb toward the upper levels for views across the surrounding landscape. The settlement's distinctive architecture has also made it a popular filming location.

Your final full day brings the Morocco chapter to a colorful close. Explore Marrakech's historic monuments, gardens, souks, and the famous Jemaa el-Fna as the city comes alive toward evening. If Marrakech inspires you to explore beyond this itinerary, the best places to visit in Morocco highlight other destinations worth considering.

    Bahia Palace

Begin at Bahia Palace, a 19th-century residence known for its courtyards, gardens, carved cedar ceilings, zellij tilework, and detailed stucco decoration. Moving through its interconnected spaces provides a glimpse into the refined architectural traditions of Marrakech.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The international flight from Cairo to Casablanca is not included in the tour price. Tripidays arranges the airport transfers and assistance on both sides, while travelers are responsible for booking their international airfare.

This is a multi-destination journey, so some travel days are longer than others. The longest overland section is the journey from Fes to Merzouga, which crosses the Middle Atlas and desert regions before reaching the Sahara. The following days continue through the Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, Aït Ben Haddou, and the High Atlas before arriving in Marrakech. The route is designed to connect these regions without unnecessary backtracking.

The Merzouga portion combines a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, an overnight desert camp, and sunrise in the Sahara. Rather than simply visiting a desert viewpoint, you spend an evening within the dunes and wake up there the following morning. Desert conditions can change considerably between day and night, so lightweight clothing for the daytime and warmer layers for the evening are recommended.

The camel ride is a traditional way to reach the desert camp, but it may not be comfortable for every traveler because the ride can involve uneven movement and prolonged sitting. Travelers with mobility concerns or who prefer not to ride can ask Tripidays about alternative arrangements for reaching the camp.

Pack for several different environments rather than relying on one type of clothing. Comfortable walking shoes are important for archaeological sites and Moroccan medinas, while lightweight clothing works well for Egypt's warmer areas. For the Sahara, bring a warmer layer for the evening and early morning. A small day bag, sun protection, a reusable water bottle, and essential personal items are also useful during longer sightseeing and travel days.
