This 2 day Aswan and Abu Simbel tour from Marsa Alam starts with hotel pickup and takes you by private vehicle to Aswan and Abu Simbel over 2 days and 1 night. Day 1 explores Aswan’s major attractions, including the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, and Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, before an overnight stay in Aswan. The trip follows one continuous route from Marsa Alam to Aswan, where you discover key landmarks of the city, then onward to Abu Simbel and back to Marsa Alam. It is designed for travelers who want to experience both Aswan and Abu Simbel in one overnight excursion without taking a flight or joining a Nile cruise. If you are looking for shorter excursions, cultural day trips, or other destinations from Marsa Alam, explore our Egypt Day excursions to find an itinerary that fits your travel plans.
Only on this route
Combine Aswan's High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple with the two Abu Simbel temples in one overnight journey from Marsa Alam.

Your guide and driver will collect you from your Marsa Alam hotel in the morning. You then travel by private vehicle to Aswan, where the first day focuses on some of the city's best-known landmarks.

Begin your Aswan sightseeing with a visit to the High Dam, one of the city's major engineering landmarks. The dam spans the Nile and created Lake Nasser, one of the world's largest artificial lakes.

Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk, an ancient granite monument that provides insight into how large stone monuments were carved in ancient Egypt. The site offers a closer look at the quarrying techniques used by ancient Egyptian craftsmen.

Next, board a boat for the short crossing to Agilkia Island, home to Philae Temple. Dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, the temple complex was relocated to the island to protect it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. End your day with an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Aswan.

Lunch

After breakfast, continue south from Aswan by road toward Abu Simbel.

Arrive at the Abu Simbel temples, one of the most recognized ancient monuments in southern Egypt. The complex includes the great Temple of Ramesses II and the smaller Temple of Nefertari. The temples were relocated to higher ground to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the High Dam. Explore both temples before beginning the return journey by road to your Marsa Alam hotel.
