Itinerary
-
Your Tripidays representative meets you at Cairo Airport and handles everything through to hotel check-in, so your first hours in Egypt are completely transfer-free. That evening, your guide takes you aboard a Nile dinner cruise as Cairo's skyline lights up the water around you.

Nile Dinner Cruise
You'll drift along the Nile as Cairo's lit skyline reflects on the water, with live Egyptian music and traditional Tannoura performances on deck. It's how this 11 day Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Hurghada tour begins—not with a briefing, but with the city at its best hour, setting the tone for one of the most immersive experiences among our 11-day Egypt itineraries.

-
After breakfast, your Egyptologist guide picks you up from the hotel for a full day on the Giza Plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The Great Giza Pyramids
Stand at the base of Khufu's pyramid, and you'll understand immediately why it held the title of the tallest structure on earth for 3,800 years. Your guide will position you to take in all three pyramids, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as a single composition before walking you through each one.

The Valley Temple
Your guide walks you inside one of the oldest stone temples in Egypt, built around 2570 BCE as part of Khafre's mortuary complex. The walls are red granite from Aswan and white limestone from Tura, two materials that ancient builders hauled hundreds of kilometres to this single site.

The Sphinx
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a giant statue in Egypt with the body of a lion and the head of a human. It was built a very long time ago, around 4,500 years ago, during the time of Pharaoh Khafre. The Sphinx stands near the Pyramid of Khafre and was probably made to protect the area. Over the years, wind and sand damaged it, but Pharaoh Thutmose IV fixed it and placed a stone called the “Dream Stele,” telling a story about becoming king.

Grand Egyptian Museum
After lunch, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, a new and amazing place near the Great Pyramids of Giza that opened in 2024. It has over 100,000 cool artifacts from 5,000 years of Egyptian history! You can see the treasures of King Tutankhamun and items from King Khufu, who built the Great Pyramid. Learn about Egypt’s past and see how people lived a long time ago.

After breakfast, your guide picks you up for the two-hour drive along the desert road to Alexandria, Egypt's Mediterranean city. Travellers interested in experiencing Egypt between Cairo and Alexandria from a different perspective can also explore Egypt's river journey alternative through a Cairo, Alexandria & Cruise, offering a slower route that connects the country's cultural centres through the Nile rather than by road.

Qaitbay Citadel
You'll walk into a 15th-century sea fortress built directly on the ruins of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Sultan Qa'it Bay completed it in 1477 using stones from the lighthouse itself, the same stones that once guided ships into this harbour.

Bibliotheca Alexandria
Your guide takes you inside the modern revival of the most famous library in the ancient world, a building whose tilted disc roof is designed to represent the sun rising over the Mediterranean. The original library, founded under Ptolemy II, once held the works of Euclid and Archimedes under one roof.

Pompey's Pillar
You'll stand beside the largest Roman column ever raised outside Rome, 25 metres of solid red Aswan granite erected in 297 AD to honour Emperor Diocletian. Despite the name, Pompey had nothing to do with it; the label stuck after Crusader-era travellers misread the site.

Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa
Your guide leads you underground into a burial complex that fuses Egyptian, Greek, and Roman funerary art in a way found nowhere else on earth. Discovered in 1900 when a donkey fell through the entrance shaft, these 2nd-century AD tombs are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages.

-
After breakfast, you check out and head to the airport for your included domestic flight to Luxor. Your Egyptologist guide meets you on arrival and takes you directly to the East Bank.

Karnak Temple
Your guide walks you into the Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 columns rise so close together the sky almost disappears above you. It took more than 2,000 years and contributions from 30 different pharaohs to build what you are standing inside, the largest religious complex ever constructed.

Luxor Temple
You'll enter through an avenue of sphinxes that once stretched three kilometres to Karnak, connecting the two temples during the annual Opet Festival procession. At the entrance of Luxor Temple, one of Ramses II's original obelisks still stands; its twin was removed in 1833 and now marks the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
Meals
Breakfast, Lunch
-
After breakfast, your guide picks you up for a full day on Luxor's West Bank, where the desert cliffs hold the tombs and temples of Egypt's New Kingdom pharaohs.

Valley of the Kings
You'll enter the Valley of the Kings, royal burial ground used by Egypt's pharaohs for nearly 500 years, from around 1539 BC to 1075 BC, where more than 60 tombs are cut into the limestone cliffs. The painted walls inside are not decorations; they are the Book of the Dead, a complete instruction manual for navigating the afterlife.

Hatshepsut Temple
Your guide brings you to Deir el-Bahari, where the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt's most powerful female pharaoh, rises in three colonnaded terraces against a natural amphitheatre of golden cliffs. Hatshepsut ruled for over 20 years during the 18th Dynasty. Her successor tried to erase every image of her face from these walls and failed.

Colossi of Memnon
You'll stop before two seated figures of Amenhotep III, each rising 18 metres from the Luxor plain, that have stood here since 1350 BC. The northern statue was famous in the ancient world for emitting a singing sound at dawn. Roman tourists came specifically to hear it, and many left graffiti on the base confirming they did.

Your morning is yours at the resort beach, pool, or simply doing nothing. In the afternoon, your optional Tripidays Desert Safari departs for the Hurghada desert.

Optional Safari Trip
You'll ride into the Eastern Desert in a 4x4 as the dunes shift from gold to deep orange in the late afternoon light. The excursion includes dune bashing, a camel ride, and an evening at a Bedouin camp with traditional tea and stargazing. If today's contrast between sea and desert inspires you to explore Egypt's wilder landscapes, you can continue beyond the Red Sea with Egypt's ultimate Western Desert adventure, a journey into remote oases and vast dune landscapes far from the country's traditional sightseeing route.
Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
-
A full day at the resort, with your optional Tripidays Snorkeling excursion available in the morning.

Optional Snorkeling Trip
Your guide takes you by boat to Hurghada's reef sites, where the coral formations run in walls and shelves beneath water clear enough to see 20 metres down. Keep watch for lionfish, parrotfish, and the occasional sea turtle moving through the reef at its own pace.

A full free day at your all-inclusive resort. Use it for water sports, a spa visit, a walk along the waterfront, or a second day on the reef; the resort's facilities are yours throughout.

After breakfast, you check out and fly from Hurghada back to Cairo on your included domestic flight. Your guide meets you on arrival for a packed final afternoon in Islamic Cairo.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization
You'll move through more than 5,000 years of Egyptian history in a single building, from the pyramid builders of the Old Kingdom through to the 1952 revolution. The Royal Mummies Hall here holds 22 pharaohs, including Ramses II, transferred from the Egyptian Museum in a state procession watched by millions in 2021.

Salah El Din Citadel
Your guide takes you inside Salah El Din Citadel, the hilltop fortress that served as Egypt's seat of power for over 700 years, built by Saladin in 1176 to defend Cairo from Crusader attack. From the ramparts, you get the clearest view in the city, the Giza Plateau to the west, the minarets of Islamic Cairo below you in every direction.

Al Rifai Mosque
You'll enter a mosque that took 43 years to complete, commissioned in 1869 and finished in 1912, whose prayer hall holds the tombs of Egypt's royal family alongside that of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. The architecture blends Mamluk, Ottoman, and European influences, the result of a collaboration between an Austrian architect and an Egyptian one.

El Sultan Hassan Mosque
Stand in the central courtyard of one of the greatest examples of Mamluk architecture ever built, where four vaulted iwans frame a space so precisely proportioned that it has been studied by architects for 600 years. Sultan Hassan began construction in 1356 and never saw it completed. He was assassinated two years before it opened.

El Muizz Street
Your final stop is a market that has operated continuously since 1382, where the narrow alleys still follow the layout of the original Mamluk caravanserai. Move through stalls of spices, handmade jewellery, papyrus, and copper work and if your guide suggests a particular tea house on the main alley, take the recommendation.

Khan El-Khalili Bazaar
After a final breakfast at your Cairo hotel, you check out, and your Tripidays driver transfers you to Cairo Airport. Your 11-day Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Hurghada tour ends here; all transfers to the airport are handled.
