Amazing 8 Day Cairo, Luxor & Sharm El Sheikh Trip
This 8 day Cairo, Luxor, and Sharm El Sheikh tour covers three destinations across Egypt in a single private package: Cairo's Giza Plateau and Islamic heritage, Luxor's West Bank tombs and temple complexes, and Sharm El Sheikh's Red Sea coastline. It is the only 8 day journey that combines Upper Egypt's Valley of the Kings with Sharm El Sheikh's world-class diving, the perfect dual-experience tour for culture lovers who want a beach reward. Domestic flights connect each destination, with private transfers and a licensed Egyptologist guide throughout. Travellers wanting more Egypt options can also explore Egypt Trips and Holidays.
Day 1 begins with arrival in Cairo and an evening Nile dinner on the water. Day 2 covers the Giza Plateau, the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Valley Temple of Khafre, the Great Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, followed by a short flight to Luxor. Day 3 is dedicated entirely to Luxor: the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank, Hatshepsut Temple at Deir el-Bahari, the Colossi of Memnon, Karnak Temple, and Luxor Temple. Day 4 brings a flight to Sharm El Sheikh, opening three days at the Red Sea, including beach time, and the optional snorkeling, and a visit to Saint Catherine's Monastery at the base of Mount Sinai. Day 7 returns to Cairo for a full day in Old Cairo, the Citadel of Salah El-Din, the Mosque of Mohamed Ali, Al Muizz Street, and Khan El-Khalili Bazaar. Day 8 is the departure.

Itinerary

Your Tripidays representative meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers you to your hotel for check-in. The evening begins on the water.

Nile Dinner Cruise
You'll board a fully lit boat as the city glows on both banks, with live Egyptian music and a buffet dinner marking the start of this journey, one of the most memorable experiences included in many Egypt holiday packages in 8 days. The experience runs roughly two hours and covers a stretch of the Nile that has served as Cairo's social spine for centuries.

Meal
Dinner

After breakfast, your guide picks you up for the drive to the Giza Plateau, followed by an afternoon at the Grand Egyptian Museum and an evening flight south.

The Great Pyramids
Your guided tour starts at the Great Giza Pyramids Complex. Stand before the iconic pyramid of King Khufu, learning incredible insights into the construction and symbolism that make this a wonder of the ancient world.

The Valley of Khafra Temples
You'll walk through one of the best-preserved Old Kingdom structures in Egypt, its granite walls still carrying the deep polish that once reflected torchlight. The temple served as the ritual purification site for the pharaoh's mummy before burial.

The Great Sphinx
Your guide walks you to the enclosure where the Sphinx's full body becomes visible; most visitors never see it from this angle. At 73 metres long, it was carved from a single limestone ridge, and the erosion patterns on its body remain one of Egyptology's open debates.

Grand Egyptian Museum
Spend the afternoon exploring the new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), home to breathtaking artifacts, including treasures of Tutankhamun.

Meal
Breakfast, Lunch

Your guide meets you after breakfast for a full day on both banks of the Nile, the West Bank's royal necropolis in the morning, and the temple complexes in the afternoon.

Valley of the Kings
Start your tour at the West Bank of Luxor and wander through the Valley of the Kings, where beautifully decorated tombs narrate the lives and beliefs of Egypt’s ancient rulers.

Hatshepsut Temple
Continue to the striking Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, with sweeping terraces sculpted into the desert cliffs.

Colossi of Memnon
Pause at the massive Colossi of Memnon, timeless guardians of the ancient necropolis.

Karnak Temple
Enter through the Avenue of Ram-Headed Sphinxes into the Hypostyle Hall, where 134 columns rise to 21 metres and stand so close together the space feels simultaneously vast and disorienting. The complex was added to by every major pharaoh for over 2,000 years.

Luxor Temple
End the day at Luxor Temple, illuminated with history and ancient power, an unforgettable stop for any Egypt itinerary lover.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, your private vehicle transfers you to Luxor Airport for a domestic flight to Cairo, then to Sharm El Sheikh. The rest of the day is yours at the Red Sea.

Sharm El Sheikh Beach
You'll arrive at one of the world's top-ranked diving and snorkeling destinations, where visibility in the water regularly exceeds 30 metres, and reef systems like Ras Mohammed have been protected since 1983. The afternoon is free, you can swim directly from the hotel beach or arrange snorkeling equipment at the shore. Travellers interested in experiencing both Egypt's Mediterranean and Red Sea coastlines may also consider our Cairo, Alexandria, and Sharm two coastlines tour, which combines Alexandria's historic waterfront with the beaches of Sharm El Sheikh in a single itinerary.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

A free day at the Red Sea with optional excursions available at your own pace.

Free Day in Sharm El Sheikh
Your guide can arrange a half-day snorkeling trip to a reef system where hard coral gardens start less than 10 metres from the shore, with moray eels, lionfish, and reef sharks common in the deeper channels. The water temperature ranges from 21°C in winter to 28°C in summer, making it comfortable year-round. Families travelling with children who prefer calmer resort-focused beach stays may also enjoy our family Cairo, Luxor, and Hurghada tour.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

An optional cultural excursion to the Sinai interior, or a third day of Red Sea leisure.

Saint Catherine Monastery
Your guide drives you through the dramatic granite mountains of the Sinai interior to the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world, founded in the 6th century AD by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian. The monastery library holds the second-largest collection of illuminated manuscripts after the Vatican, and the site contains what tradition identifies as the Burning Bush.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

A morning flight returns you to Cairo, where your guide takes you through the city's Ottoman and Mamluk heritage.

Salah Al-Din Citadel
You'll enter through the 12th-century fortress walls that Saladin built to defend Cairo against the Crusaders. The complex covers the highest point in medieval Cairo and still commands the view across the entire city that made it a military prize for seven centuries.

Mohamed Ali Mosque
Your guide walks you inside the Ottoman alabaster mosque that Mohamed Ali Pasha completed in 1848, its twin minarets still the most visible landmark on Cairo's skyline. The alabaster cladding on the lower walls came from the same Beni Suef quarries that supplied the outer casing stones of the Giza Pyramids.

Al Muizz Street
Walk through the world's largest open-air collection of medieval Islamic architecture, a kilometre-long street where Fatimid, Ayyubid, and Mamluk buildings stand in an almost unbroken row. The street has been a commercial artery since the 10th century and remains one.

Khan El-Khalili Bazaar
Egypt's most famous Khan El Khalili bazaar has occupied this site since 1382, when the Mamluk sultan Barquq demolished an older Fatimid complex to build a caravanserai for merchants. Your guide will navigate you through the spice market, the goldsmiths' lane, and the coffeehouses that have barely changed since the 19th century.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Your Tripidays representative transfers you to Cairo International Airport for your international flight home.
