Exclusive 7 Day Cairo & Nile Cruise Tour by plane

This 7 day Cairo Nile cruise tour by flight covers Egypt's three great destinations, Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan in a single, seamless week. You fly from Cairo to Luxor at the start of your cruise, then sail the Nile south to Aswan, cutting out the long overland road transfer that other packages require. Two nights in a 5-star Cairo hotel, four nights aboard a 5-star Nile cruise ship, and two domestic flights are all included. If you are still weighing your options across the full range of Egypt journey packages, the fly-cruise format here is one of the most efficient ways to cover the Nile Valley in a single week.

Rather than losing a full day to the road, your week unfolds across three distinct landscapes. Day 1 begins with arrival in Cairo and an evening Nile dinner cruise on the river. Day 2 takes you to the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the Valley Temple of Khafre, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the Tutankhamun collection. On Day 3, you fly to Luxor, board your cruise ship, and spend the afternoon on the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cairo Arrival and Nile Dinner Cruise

Your Tripidays representative meets you at Cairo International Airport the moment you clear customs and transfers you directly to your 5-star Cairo hotel. The evening begins on the water with a Nile dinner cruise, the city lights reflected across the river as you eat, with live traditional music setting the tone for the week ahead.

    meal

    Evening Nile Dinner Cruise

Cairo, you board in central Cairo as the skyline shifts from daylight gold to illuminated towers along the bank. The cruise runs roughly two hours — long enough to settle in, eat well, and understand that this trip moves at a different pace from the moment it starts.

  • Day 2: Explore Pyramids, Sphinx, and GEM

After breakfast, your private Egyptologist guide collects you from the hotel for a full day on the Giza plateau and at the museum. This is the only full day in Cairo, so the sequence is designed to move efficiently between the four sites without feeling rushed.

    The Pyramids of Giza

Stand at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, and you'll understand why no photograph prepares you for the scale; each stone in the lowest course sits at roughly the height of your waist. Your guide will position you for the angle where all three pyramids align, something most visitors miss entirely.

    The Great Sphinx

You approach the Sphinx from the east, at ground level, which puts you face-to-face with the limestone head at nearly eye height, a perspective that makes the 73-metre length of the body genuinely disorienting. Your guide will point out the Dream Stele between the paws, carved by Thutmose IV around 1400 BCE to explain why he restored it.

    The Valley Temple of Khafraa

Your guide walks you into the interior, where the polished red granite walls and alabaster floors still carry the weight of the mummification rituals once performed here. It is one of the oldest roofed structures on earth, built around 2500 BCE, and almost no one lingers long enough inside to notice how completely the noise from the plateau disappears the moment you step in.

    The Grand Egyptian Museum

You enter through the atrium, dominated by the 10-metre colossus of Ramses II, the largest ancient statue ever moved in one piece. The Tutankhamun galleries alone hold over 5,000 artefacts from his tomb, including the gold death mask and the reconstructed royal chariot that has never been displayed outside Egypt.

  • Day 3: Fly Cairo to Luxor – 7 Day Cairo Nile Cruise Begins

Your guide transfers you to Cairo Airport for the short domestic flight south to Luxor. On landing, you board your 5-star Nile cruise ship, your home for the next four nights, and head directly to the West Bank while your luggage is settled into your cabin.

    The Valley of the Kings

Your guide leads you down into the cut rock of the royal burial ground, where the tombs of Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Seti I descend in painted corridors that narrow as they go deeper. The walls run floor to ceiling with the Book of the Dead texts that guided the pharaoh through the underworld, rendered in colours that have barely faded in 3,200 years.

    Temple of Hatshepsut

You approach along the processional causeway toward the three colonnaded terraces cut directly into the Deir el-Bahari cliff face a building so geometrically precise it looks as though the rock was always meant to frame it. Hatshepsut ruled Egypt for over 20 years as pharaoh, not regent, and her temple is one of the clearest architectural arguments for why that distinction mattered.

    Colossi of Memnon

Your final West Bank stop places you in front of the two seated quartzite statues of Amenhotep III, each standing 18 metres tall and still commanding the plain despite 3,400 years of weathering.

  • Day 4: Exploring Luxor's East Bank

Breakfast on the sun deck while the East Bank comes into view. Your guide meets you at the gangway for the morning's sightseeing, and the ship begins its southward movement during the afternoon, giving you a full evening sailing past the Theban hills.

    Karnak Temple

You enter through the Avenue of Sphinxes and into the Hypostyle Hall, 134 columns packed so densely that the light between them arrives in shafts rather than floods, and the scale only becomes clear when you find a column base and realise it is wider than your arm span.

    Luxor Temple

Walk through the first pylon, and you step into a courtyard still partly buried under a medieval mosque. The mosque remains in place, elevated above the ancient floor level, which tells you everything about how completely Luxor Temple disappeared from view for nearly a thousand years.

  • Day 5: Edfu & Kom Ombo Temples

Breakfast on board as the ship docks at Edfu. The day runs south in sequence — Edfu in the morning, Kom Ombo by late afternoon — with the Nile visible from both temple sites as you move between them.

    temple of edfu

    Temple of Horus at Edfu

Your guide takes you through the twin pylons into the best preserved ancient temple in Egypt, constructed in 57 BCE, which makes it young by local standards, and the completeness shows. Look up inside the hypostyle hall, and you'll find the ceiling still carries traces of the original astronomical paintings that mapped the sky as the ancient Egyptians understood it.

    temple kom ombo

    Kom Ombo Temple Tour

Discover the unique Kom Ombo Temple, devoted to two gods, Horus the falcon and Sobek the crocodile. Visit the fascinating Crocodile Museum to learn about ancient Egyptian medicine and beliefs. If you want to cover the same Luxor-to-Aswan corridor without a cruise, the overland Luxor Aswan no cruise route drives it by road with longer stops and no sailing schedule.

  • Day 6: Aswan Highlights – The Jewel of the Nile

The ship docks in Aswan early, and your guide meets you at the gangway for the final full sightseeing day of the 7 day Cairo Nile cruise. Aswan runs slower than Luxor — fewer sites, more space between them, and a quality of light over the granite boulders and palm islands that is distinct from anywhere else on the river.

    Aswan High Dam

You stand on the crest of the dam and look south across Lake Nasser, 550 kilometres long, and the world's largest artificial reservoir when it was completed in 1970. The dam ended the annual flood cycle that had defined Egyptian agriculture for 5,000 years, which means this single structure has altered the Nile's relationship with the land more than any pharaoh ever managed.

    Philae Temple

A short motorboat ride brings you to Agilkia Island, where the entire temple complex was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt at a higher elevation between 1972 and 1980 to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

  • Day 7: Departure

Frequently Asked Questions

This tour includes 2 nights in a 5-star Cairo hotel, 4 nights aboard a 5-star Nile cruise ship from Luxor to Aswan, two domestic flights (Cairo to Luxor and Aswan to Cairo), a private licensed Egyptologist for all 7 days, full-board meals on the cruise, selected meals in Cairo, and all entrance fees to every site in the itinerary. International flights, visa, travel insurance, tips, and personal expenses are not included.

Absolutely! This tour is ideal for first-time travelers because it includes Egypt’s most iconic sites and offers a smooth travel flow — starting in Cairo and continuing through Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan.

This is the only 7 day Cairo Nile cruise tour by flight in the portfolio — you fly from Cairo directly to Luxor on Day 3 and board your cruise ship the same day, cutting out the overnight train or long road transfer that other packages use to reach the cruise start point. That routing gives you a full afternoon of West Bank sightseeing on the day you arrive in Luxor, rather than losing it to travel. For travellers who want the Nile cruise combined with Alexandria instead, see the Cairo Alexandria Nile cruise overland.

The fly-cruise format means you fly one-way from Cairo to Luxor at the start of the cruise leg, then cruise south to Aswan over four nights, and fly back to Cairo from Aswan on the final day. The entire Nile journey runs downstream with the current, in the direction the cruise is designed to travel.

The cruise runs for 4 nights from Luxor to Aswan, stopping at four temple sites along the way — Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut on the West Bank (Day 3), Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank (Day 4), Edfu and Kom Ombo (Day 5), and Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple (Day 6). All meals are full-board on the ship, and your private Egyptologist guide accompanies you at every stop. The cruise ship serves as your hotel for all four nights — no repacking between cities.
