    Your guide walks you through the only double temple in Egypt; the structure is split precisely down the centre, with one half dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god and the other to Horus the falcon.

    Sailing to Edfu

    Back on board, you'll continue north toward Edfu, watching the Nile scenery change from the deck as the cruise makes its way toward the next temple stop.

  • Day 6: Edfu Temple, Sailing to Luxor, and Luxor Temple

    After breakfast, your Egyptologist leads you to Edfu Temple before you return to the cruise and sail toward Luxor. In the evening, you'll visit Luxor Temple, when the illuminated columns and statues give the ancient complex an entirely different atmosphere.

    Edfu Temple

     You'll enter through a gateway flanked by two granite falcons. The Temple of Horus at Edfu is the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt, completed in 57 BCE after 180 years of construction. The scale of the entrance pylon, at 36 metres high, takes a moment to absorb.

    Sailing to Luxor

    Return to the cruise and continue sailing south along the Nile toward Luxor, with time to relax on board as the river landscape passes by.

    Luxor Temple

    The Avenue of Sphinxes connects Karnak to Luxor Temple along a 3-kilometre processional road — your guide leads you through the entrance obelisk and the seated figures of Ramses II.

    After breakfast, you'll explore Luxor's East and West Banks with your private Egyptologist guide before transferring to Luxor International Airport for your domestic flight to Cairo. On arrival, a private vehicle transfers you to your Cairo hotel for an overnight stay.

    The Egyptian Museum 

    Your private guide walks you through the royal mummy room and the Tutankhamun galleries. The collection holds over 120,000 artefacts, and your Egyptologist selects the pieces that reward close attention rather than moving at a tour-group pace. The museum building itself has been in continuous use since 1902.

    The Hanging Church 

    You'll enter Coptic Cairo through the Roman gateway and descend to the church built above the southern gate tower of the old Roman fortress the reason it appears to hang. The interior has been in use as a place of worship for over 1,600 years without interruption.

Abu Simbel is a rock-cut temple complex in southern Egypt built by Ramses II around 1264 BCE. The two temples contain some of the largest carved figures in the ancient world. You board the 5-star Nile cruise in Aswan on Day 4 after returning from Abu Simbel and sail north over three nights, stopping at Edfu Temple, Kom Ombo Temple, and the West Bank sites at Luxor before disembarking on Day 7.
