Only on this route
This itinerary connects three very different landscapes, and travel experiences the Nile Valley, the Red Sea and the Moroccan Sahara in one 15 day journey. Instead of choosing between a Nile Cruise, a Hurghada escape, or a Sahara adventure, travelers experience all three, moving from ancient Egyptian temples and river landscapes to Red Sea beaches, the High Atlas Mountains, and the golden dunes of Merzouga.

Arc I · Cairo to Aswan
Giza’s pyramids lead south to Philae and Nile Cruise boarding

Arrive in Cairo and meet your Tripidays representative at Cairo International Airport for assistance and a private transfer to your hotel. After check-in and time to settle in, begin your 15 day Egypt and Morocco with Hurghada & Sahara tour with an evening Nile dinner cruise overlooking Cairo's illuminated skyline.

As night falls over Cairo, step aboard your Nile dinner cruise and watch the city unfold along the river. Enjoy dinner while traditional entertainment brings the evening to life, creating a relaxed introduction to Egypt before the archaeological adventures begin.

Dinner

After breakfast, begin your 15 day Egypt and Morocco with Hurghada & Sahara holiday with Egypt's most iconic ancient landmarks at the Giza Plateau, followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum. Later, transfer to Cairo Airport for your domestic flight to Aswan, where the Nile Cruise chapter of your journey begins.

Start your morning at the Giza Pyramids, where Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure rise above the desert plateau. With your Egyptologist guide, explore the ancient royal complex and learn how these monumental structures were built as part of the burial traditions of Egypt's Old Kingdom.

Continue to the Great Sphinx, the monumental figure with a lion's body and a royal human head. Carved from the natural limestone bedrock, the Sphinx has stood beside the pyramids for thousands of years and remains one of Egypt's most recognizable ancient monuments.

Visit the Valley Temple of Khafre, a substantial structure built from limestone and granite as part of the king's funerary complex. Its massive blocks and surviving architectural features provide another perspective on the ceremonies and beliefs associated with royal burial.

Continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Plateau. Explore its extensive presentation of ancient Egyptian heritage and connect the monuments you have just visited with the artifacts, rulers, beliefs, and daily life of the civilization that created them.

Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, discover Aswan's contrasting layers, from modern engineering at the High Dam to ancient stone-working at the Unfinished Obelisk and the island sanctuary of Philae Temple. By evening, board your Nile cruise and begin sailing through the heart of Upper Egypt.

Begin at the Aswan High Dam, one of modern Egypt's most significant engineering projects. The dam transformed the management of the Nile's annual floods and created the vast reservoir of Lake Nasser, changing the landscape and communities of southern Egypt.

Continue to the ancient granite quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk. Still attached to the bedrock, this enormous monument provides a fascinating glimpse into how ancient craftsmen cut and shaped granite before transporting and raising monumental stones.

Take a short boat ride across the Nile to Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Surrounded by water on Agilkia Island, the temple complex combines elegant columns, decorated gateways, and ancient religious scenes in one of Aswan's most atmospheric settings.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Arc II · Kom Ombo to Hurghada
Sail through Edfu and Luxor before Red Sea leisure and snorkeling

Wake up on the Nile as your cruise continues toward Kom Ombo. Step ashore to explore its unusual double temple, then return to the ship for another evening surrounded by the river landscapes of Upper Egypt.

Visit Kom Ombo Temple, one of Egypt's most distinctive riverside temples. Its symmetrical design reflects its dedication to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. The surviving reliefs and architectural details reveal aspects of ancient Egyptian religion, medicine, and temple life.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, visit the remarkably preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu before continuing your Nile cruise toward Luxor. By noon, arrive in Luxor and visit the magnificent Luxor Temple, where towering columns and ancient reliefs introduce you to the former religious capital of Egypt.

Begin your day at Edfu Temple, one of Egypt's best preserved ancient temples. Dedicated to Horus, the falcon headed god, the temple features monumental gateways, towering columns, and detailed reliefs depicting ancient Egyptian religious traditions and ceremonies.

By noon, arrive in Luxor and visit Luxor Temple, a magnificent monument on the East Bank of the Nile. Walk between its monumental pylons, colossal statues, columns, and decorated walls while your Egyptologist explains the temple's connection to the ancient city of Thebes and the religious traditions of the New Kingdom.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, begin your Luxor sightseeing at Karnak Temple on the East Bank before crossing the Nile to explore the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank. After lunch, leave Luxor behind and travel through the Eastern Desert toward Hurghada and the Red Sea.

Begin in the Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes in ancient Egypt. Walk among monumental pylons, towering columns, obelisks, and the famous Great Hypostyle Hall while your Egyptologist explains how successive generations expanded this sacred center.

Explore the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs of the New Kingdom chose hidden tombs within the desert mountains rather than building visible royal pyramids. Enter selected tombs and discover the colorful scenes and inscriptions created to guide rulers into the afterlife.

Continue to the Hatshepsut Temple at Deir el-Bahari, where broad terraces rise dramatically against the cliffs. Built for Queen Hatshepsut, the temple combines monumental architecture with a setting that makes it one of Luxor's most memorable sights.

Pause at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous seated statues of Amenhotep III that once stood before his vast mortuary temple. Their scale provides an immediate sense of the monumental ambitions of ancient Thebes.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed day in Hurghada, giving you time to experience the Red Sea at your own pace. For travelers who want to explore beneath the surface, an optional snorkeling trip offers the chance to discover coral reefs and colorful marine life before returning to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

Start the day at leisure and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Egypt's Red Sea coast. Spend time at the hotel, relax by the pool, enjoy the beach, or explore Hurghada at your own pace.

Travelers who want to experience Hurghada's underwater world can choose an optional snorkeling trip in the Red Sea. Sail to suitable snorkeling locations and discover clear waters, coral formations, and colorful marine life beneath the surface.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning in Hurghada before your domestic flight back to Cairo. The day gives you breathing room between the Red Sea and the international chapter of your journey in Morocco.

Use your free time to enjoy the Red Sea atmosphere at your own pace. Whether you prefer a quiet morning at the hotel or a final look at Hurghada's coastal surroundings, this is your opportunity to recharge before traveling onward.

Breakfast, Lunch
Arc III · Atlas to Merzouga
Cross Tizi n’Tichka, explore Aït Ben Haddou, and camp beneath Sahara skies

After breakfast, transfer to Cairo International Airport for your international flight to Marrakech, marking the transition from Egypt's Nile Valley and Red Sea to Morocco's mountain and desert landscapes. Upon arrival, meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel in Marrakech. If this is your first visit to Morocco, our Morocco travel tips for first-time visitors can help you understand practical details such as local customs, transportation, currency, and what to expect during your journey.

Breakfast

Leave Marrakech behind and climb through the High Atlas Mountains toward the historic ksar of Aït Ben Haddou. Continue to Ouarzazate, where the landscape begins to take on the colors and character of Morocco's desert gateway.

Travel across the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, one of Morocco's most spectacular mountain routes. The road winds through high-altitude landscapes, valleys, and mountain villages, creating a dramatic transition between Marrakech and southern Morocco.

Explore Aït Ben Haddou, the famous fortified ksar built from earthen architecture along the historic caravan routes linking the Sahara with Marrakech. Walk through its narrow passageways and climb toward viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape. Travelers looking for a shorter Egypt-to-Sahara journey through the Atlas Mountains and Aït Ben Haddou can also consider an itinerary focused more tightly on Egypt's ancient highlights and Morocco's southern desert route.

Breakfast, Lunch

Today brings the journey fully into Morocco's desert country. Travel through the Dades Valley and Todra Gorge before reaching Merzouga, where a sunset camel trek carries you across the dunes to your Sahara camp. If you would like to combine this Merzouga Sahara experience with a longer Egypt and Morocco journey featuring Hurghada, Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, and other Moroccan highlights, you can explore an extended itinerary built around the same Nile, Red Sea, and Sahara combination.

Travel through the scenic Dades Valley, where rugged mountains, oasis vegetation, traditional villages, and kasbahs create a striking contrast between rock and greenery. The route reveals how communities have adapted to life around Morocco's desert valleys.

Continue to Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the narrow canyon. Take time to walk through this remarkable natural landscape before continuing toward Merzouga.

Breakfast, Dinner

Spend a full day experiencing the Sahara rather than simply passing through it. Explore Erg Chebbi, visit a nomadic community, experience Gnawa music, and enjoy another night among the dunes. If you want to understand the different ways to experience Morocco's desert regions before your camel trek, our Morocco Sahara Desert guide explains what a Sahara experience can involve, from desert camps and camel rides to landscapes, activities, and practical considerations.

Begin the day exploring the Erg Chebbi dune field, where waves of golden sand stretch across the desert near Merzouga. The changing position of the sun creates constantly shifting patterns across the dunes.

Continue to a local nomadic community and gain a glimpse into traditional desert life. Learn how people have adapted to the region's challenging environment and maintained cultural traditions connected to the Sahara.

Experience Gnawa music, an important Moroccan musical tradition with deep African roots. Its distinctive rhythms and instruments provide a cultural dimension to your Sahara experience beyond the scenery alone. Travelers who want to continue beyond the Sahara can choose a more comprehensive Egypt and Morocco journey that adds Chefchaouen, Fez, and Marrakech to Cairo, the Nile, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada, and Morocco's desert landscapes

Breakfast, Dinner
Arc IV · Draa to Marrakech
Travel through Skoura’s palm groves before returning to Marrakech for departure

After breakfast, leave the Sahara behind and travel through Alnif and the palm-filled Draa Valley toward Skoura. The scenery gradually changes from open desert to oasis landscapes dotted with palms and traditional kasbahs.

Pass through Alnif, a small settlement between the Sahara and Morocco's southern valleys. The surrounding landscape provides a final glimpse of the wide, arid terrain before the route becomes greener.

Continue through the Draa Valley, known for its long stretches of palm groves, traditional villages, and earthen architecture. The contrast between the dry desert and the green oasis illustrates how water has shaped settlement across southern Morocco.

Arrive in the peaceful Skoura Valley, where palm groves and historic kasbahs create a calmer atmosphere after your Sahara adventure. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by the oasis landscape.

Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Marrakech, crossing southern Morocco's changing landscapes once more. Arrive in the Red City and enjoy your final evening at leisure before departure. If you're already thinking about extending a future Moroccan trip beyond the destinations included here, explore our guide to the best places to visit in Morocco for ideas on cities, mountain regions, coastal destinations, and other areas worth considering.

After arriving in Marrakech, check in to your hotel and enjoy free time for a final walk, shopping in the souks, or simply relaxing after the long journey through southern Morocco.

Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer with your Tripidays representative to Marrakech Menara Airport for your departure flight. Your 15 day Egypt and Morocco with Hurghada & Sahara tour comes to an end after connecting three very different landscapes and travel experiences: the ancient monuments of Egypt, the Nile and Red Sea, and the mountains and Sahara of Morocco.

Breakfast
* You can let us know if you'd like to customize your tour itinerary to meet your needs. We value your input and aim to accommodate your requirements.
This itinerary is designed around three distinct travel experiences: ancient Egypt, the Red Sea, and the Moroccan Sahara. Instead of spending most of the trip in cities, it combines Cairo and the major Nile Valley sights with a Nile Cruise, time in Hurghada, and then continues into Morocco's Atlas Mountains and Sahara region. The route is particularly suited to travelers who want both a classic Egypt experience and a deeper southern Morocco adventure within one trip.
Yes. The itinerary introduces the major highlights of Egypt while providing a structured route through Morocco's southern landscapes. You will have local assistance and guided sightseeing during the organized portions of the journey, while selected periods of free time allow you to experience destinations at your own pace. Because the trip crosses two countries and includes several long travel days, it is best suited to travelers who prefer a varied, active itinerary rather than a slow resort-style vacation.
No. International flights are not included in the tour price. This includes the international flight from Cairo to Marrakech. Tripdays arranges the land arrangements and transfers according to the itinerary, while travelers should plan their international airfare separately.
The Sahara stay is designed as an immersive desert experience rather than simply a sightseeing stop. After reaching Merzouga, you travel into the Erg Chebbi dunes by camel around sunset and spend the night at a desert camp. Dinner and time beneath the open desert sky are part of the experience. Desert accommodation can feel very different from a conventional hotel, particularly because of the remote setting, temperature changes between day and night, and limited urban facilities.
No previous camel riding experience is required. The camel trek is conducted at a relaxed pace and is primarily intended as a way to reach the desert camp and experience the dunes. If you are uncomfortable riding a camel or have mobility concerns, discuss the available arrangements with Tripidays before travel so the desert transfer can be planned appropriately.
