Itinerary

A Tripidays representative meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers you by private air-conditioned vehicle to your 5-star hotel in central Cairo. That evening, the tour opens on the water—board a Nile dinner cruise as the city lights come on across both banks.

Nile Dinner Cruise
You'll watch Cairo's skyline shift from amber to deep blue as the boat moves downriver, with a live Tanoura show spinning colour across the deck. This first evening sets the rhythm of the tour: every major moment happens at the right hour, not the convenient one. Travellers who enjoy seeing Cairo illuminated from the Nile may also be interested in our Christmas Egypt Vacation, where festive-season departures combine the capital's highlights with Egypt's most famous ancient sites during the December holiday period.

Meals
Dinner

After breakfast at your hotel, your Egyptologist guide leads a full-day exploration of Cairo's most important ancient treasures, beginning at the Giza Plateau and continuing to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Following the tour, you transfer to Cairo Airport for your domestic flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, you'll be met and transferred directly to your 5-star Nile cruise for embarkation and overnight onboard.

The Great Pyramids of Giza Tour
Stand at the base of Khufu's pyramid, and you'll understand immediately why every photograph undersells the scale: the base alone covers more ground than ten city blocks. Your guide will walk you into the Khafre and Menkaure complexes too, reading the plateau as a single architectural decision rather than three separate structures.

The Great Sphinx Tour
Your guide positions you at the angle where the Sphinx's worn face aligns with the Khafre pyramid directly behind it, the composition the builders intended. At 73 metres long and carved from a single limestone ridge, it remains the largest single-stone sculpture on earth.

Valley of Khafre Temples Tour
You'll enter through a corridor of pink Aswan granite that has barely shifted in 4,500 years, the walls close enough to touch on both sides. This is where the king's body was prepared for burial — the silence inside is not atmospheric, it is structural.

Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)
You'll move through the Tutankhamun galleries in sequence, beginning with the outermost gilded shrine and ending at the gold mask itself a progression that replicates, roughly, what the priests experienced during the original burial. The museum holds over 5,000 objects from the tomb alone.

Meals
Breakfast and Dinner

After breakfast onboard, begin exploring Aswan's most famous landmarks before returning to the cruise for a relaxing afternoon sail through Upper Egypt.

Aswan High Dam
You'll stand on the dam's observation platform looking south toward Lake Nasser, a body of water that did not exist before 1970 and is now one of the largest artificial reservoirs on the planet. The engineering here redirected the entire agricultural economy of Egypt — your guide makes that transformation legible in about ten minutes.

Philae Temple
A short motorboat carries you across the reservoir to the island, and the temple rises directly from the water's edge as you approach. Dedicated to Isis and relocated stone by stone to save it from the rising lake after the dam's construction, it is the only monument in Egypt that was dismantled and rebuilt in living memory.

Unfinished Obelisk
Discover the Unfinished Obelisk in the Northern Quarries. This gigantic piece of stone offers insight into ancient Egyptian obelisk construction methods and the incredible challenges they faced.

Sail to Kom Ombo
Later in the afternoon, return to the cruise and begin sailing north along the Nile toward Kom Ombo. Relax on the sun deck as the scenery shifts from granite outcrops to fertile riverbanks lined with palm groves. Overnight aboard the cruise.

Kom Ombo Temple
Begin your excursion with a visit to the unique Kom Ombo Temple, perched right on the Nile's bank. This unusual double temple is dedicated to both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god, showcasing fascinating duality in design and worship practices.

Sail to Edfu
Return to the cruise and continue north toward Edfu. Spend the afternoon enjoying the Nile views from the sun deck as the vessel passes traditional villages, farmland, and date palm plantations. Overnight aboard the cruise.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

This morning begins with a visit to one of Egypt's best-preserved temples before the cruise continues north toward Luxor.

Edfu Temple
Continue your trip with a visit to the Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, the temple provides an intriguing insight into ancient Egyptian rituals and architectural grandeur.

Sail to Luxor
Following the visit, return to the cruise and continue your journey toward Luxor. Enjoy lunch and afternoon tea on board as the ship sails through the heart of Upper Egypt.

Temple Luxor Temple
As darkness falls, explore Luxor Temple beautifully illuminated against the night sky. The dramatic lighting highlights the colossal statues, towering columns, and ancient inscriptions in a way that daylight cannot replicate. Overnight aboard the cruise.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

After breakfast and disembarkation, your Egyptologist guide takes you through the highlights of both banks of Luxor. After completing the tour, transfer to Luxor Airport for your domestic flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Cairo.

Karnak Temple Tour
Walk through the vast temple complex and into the famous Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns create one of the most impressive architectural spaces in the ancient world.

Valley of the Kings
Embark on an awe-inspiring tour of the Valley of the Kings, the renowned burial ground of Egypt's pharaohs. Walk through the ancient pathways and explore the intricately decorated tombs, each narrating untold stories from the past.

Hatshepsut Temple
Proceed to the magnificent Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, an architectural marvel nestled against the desert cliffs. This temple stands as a testament to the reign of one of Egypt's most successful female pharaohs, offering a glimpse into the sophistication of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Colossi of Memnon Tour
Visit the imposing Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which have stood majestically for millennia. These iconic figures hold secrets of ancient legends and the artistry of their creators. For travellers who prefer a more stylish Nile sailing, our Luxury Dahabiya Sailing from Luxor replaces the larger cruise ship experience with a boutique river journey featuring fewer cabins and a slower pace between the Nile Valley's historic sites.
