Itinerary

Your guide meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers you to your hotel in a private vehicle. Cairo's evening skyline is best seen from the water tonight.

Nile Dinner Cruise
Your guide boards you onto the cruise at dusk, the city's lit bridges passing slowly overhead as the boat moves downstream. The performance includes tanoura and traditional Egyptian music; the buffet runs alongside it without interrupting the view.

Meals
Dinner

Your guide collects you after breakfast for the plateau drive, the three pyramid silhouettes appearing above the city before you reach the gates.

The Great Pyramids of Giza
Stand in awe before the iconic Giza Pyramids Complex, home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, a timeless highlight of every Cairo, Nile Cruise, and Jordan Trip.

The Great Sphinx
Walk the viewing terrace at sphinx level, where the face 4 metres wide across the cheekbones is directly ahead rather than far below. The limestone body extends 73 metres behind it, carved from the same bedrock on which the pyramid complex stands.

The Valley Temple
Step into the granite-lined hall where priests conducted the Opening of the Mouth ritual before the pharaoh's burial procession began. The precision of the stone joins blocks fitting without mortar across walls nearly 5 metres high is the detail most visitors miss.

Grand Egyptian Museum
Discover the world-class Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), showcasing Egypt’s greatest treasures in a stunning modern setting.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

An early flight takes you from Cairo to Luxor, where your cruise guide boards you at the dock. The Nile cruise cabin is your base for the next four nights; Luxor's temples fill the afternoon and evening.

Karnak Temple
Explore the majestic Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built, including the legendary Hypostyle Hall.

Luxor Temple
Visit at night, when floodlights throw the Avenue of Sphinxes and the seated colossi of Ramesses II into sharp relief against a dark sky. The Roman chapel built inside the inner sanctum, visible as a frescoed room surrounded by hieroglyphic walls, captures 1,500 years of layered occupation in a single glance.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Crossing to the West Bank takes minutes by road; your guide is at the ticket gate when you arrive. The sites sit in a semicircle beneath the Theban cliffs.

Valley of the Kings
Enter the legendary Valley of the Kings, the sacred burial ground of Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Seti I. Explore richly decorated tombs filled with vivid hieroglyphs and learn how these underground chambers were designed to protect royal treasures and guide kings into the afterlife.

Hatshepsut Temple
Marvel at the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most elegant monuments, beautifully carved into towering limestone cliffs. This unique terraced temple reflects the power and legacy of Egypt’s most successful female pharaoh.

Colossi of Memnon
Pause before the monumental Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that have stood guard over the Theban necropolis for more than 3,000 years, offering a powerful glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The cruise sails south overnight; by morning, Edfu's pylon is visible from the river. A horse-drawn carriage takes you from the dock.

Edfu Temple
Travel by horse-drawn carriage to Edfu Temple, one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples dedicated to Horus.

Kom Ombo Temple
Visit the unique double Kom Ombo Temple, honoring Sobek and Horus the Elder, overlooking the Nile.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

An early start from Aswan by road; the convoy leaves before dawn to arrive at the temples for the morning light. This is 13 day Egypt and Jordan multi-city tour to Cairo, Nile cruise, Jerash, and Petra core USV day.

Abu Simbel Temples
Explore the breathtaking Abu Simbel Temples, carved by Ramses II and relocated by UNESCO, a masterpiece of ancient engineering and one of Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. Travelers looking for a similar route with slightly less Jordan coverage may also consider our 12 Day Egypt Jordan Nile Cruise Abu Simbel Petra Tour.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The cruise's final morning covers Aswan's three main sites before the afternoon flight back to Cairo.

Aswan High Dam
Discover the impressive Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering marvel that transformed Egypt’s economy by controlling the Nile’s annual floods and generating vital hydroelectric power. From its vantage points, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over Lake Nasser, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

Unfinished Obelisk
Crouch beside the crack that runs along the lower face of the granite shaft, the flaw discovered during cutting that caused the entire project to be abandoned in place. Had it been completed, this obelisk would have stood 41 metres tall, taller than any obelisk successfully erected in ancient Egypt.

Philae Temple
Sail by boat to the enchanting Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and beautifully set on Agilkia Island. This captivating temple complex, rescued by UNESCO, blends mythology, romance, and breathtaking island scenery, making it one of Upper Egypt’s most memorable sights.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Cairo for a full day before tomorrow's flight to Amman; this is the last Egypt day.

Egyptian Museum
Step into the world of the Egyptian Museum, home to priceless artifacts spanning over 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian civilization. Marvel at golden treasures, intricate jewelry, mummies, and the legendary relics of pharaohs, offering an unparalleled journey through Egypt’s rich history.

Hanging Church
Climb the external staircase to the entrance suspended above the Roman fortress towers; inside, the nave is divided by 13 columns representing Christ and the apostles, and the wooden pulpit, dating to the 11th century, rests on 15 slender marble pillars. The church has been in continuous use since at least the 7th century CE.

Amr Ibn El Aas Mosque
Walk through the colonnaded courtyard of the first mosque built on African soil, founded in 641 CE within a year of the Arab conquest of Egypt. The current structure is a later rebuild, but the original floor plan and the direction of the qibla remain.

Ben Ezra Synagogue
Step into the restored interior where the Cairo Geniza, over 300,000 Jewish manuscript fragments spanning 900 years, was discovered in a sealed storage room in 1896. The Geniza documents are now held at Cambridge; the synagogue itself dates to the 9th century CE.

Al Muizz Street
Walk the full kilometre of the medieval spine of Fatimid Cairo, where 10th-century gates, 14th-century madrasa facades, and Mamluk-era fountains occupy the same uninterrupted streetfront. Your guide names the buildings by dynasty as you walk.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar
Your guide gives you free time here: the market has operated continuously since 1382 CE, and the silversmithing and glassblowing workshops behind the main lanes are still active.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Your final Cairo morning ends with check-out and transfer to Cairo International Airport for the flight to Jordan's capital. Your Amman guide meets you at Queen Alia International Airport arrivals.

Meals
Breakfast

Jerash is 48 kilometres north of Amman; the drive takes under an hour. This is the destination that separates this 13 day Egypt & Jordan multi-city tour from every alternative.

Jerash
Your guide walks you into the Oval Plaza first, a forum 90 metres by 80 metres, its perimeter colonnade of 56 Ionic columns still standing where the geometry of Roman civic space becomes immediately physical. The stones of the plaza floor still carry the rut marks of Roman chariot wheels.

Hippodrome
Stand on the track bed of the only Roman hippodrome in the Levant still visible at this scale, 244 metres long, with original tiered seating for up to 15,000 spectators. Chariot races were held here from the 1st through the 3rd centuries CE. Families preferring a shorter schedule centered on the Nile cruise and Petra without the additional Jerash excursion may prefer our 11 Day Family Egypt Jordan Nile Cruise & Petra Tour.

Temple of Artemis
Approach the monumental staircase to the temple platform, where 11 of the original Corinthian columns remain standing at 13 metres each. The precision of the construction is testable here: insert a thin object into the column drum joints, and the columns visibly sway, still flexible after 1,900 years.

Ajloun Castle
Drive 20 kilometres from Jerash to the hilltop fortress built in 1184 CE by Izz al-Din Usama, a general under Saladin, to control the iron mines of Ajloun and block Crusader movement between the Jordan Valley and Syria. From the battlements, the Jordan Valley spreads below on a clear day.

Amman Citadel
Your guide takes you to the Temple of Hercules on the Citadel hill, where two standing columns and a massive hand fragment are all that remain of a colossal cult statue, marking the scale of the Roman-era sanctuary. The Umayyad Palace complex beside it dates to the early 8th century CE, placing 800 years of occupation in a single elevated site above downtown Amman.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

South from Amman along the King's Highway; Madaba is the first stop.

St. George’s Church
Your guide brings you directly to the mosaic floor, where the 6th-century map of the Holy Land, executed in 2.3 million tesserae and measuring 94 metres by 25 metres in its original extent, of which roughly 25 square metres survive, shows Jerusalem at its centre, surrounded by the Nile Delta, the Dead Sea, and the cities of the Levant, all navigable as a functioning geographic document. It is the oldest surviving cartographic depiction of the Holy Land.

Mount Nebo
Stand at the memorial church on the summit, where Moses is believed to have viewed the Promised Land before his death. On a clear day, the Jericho plain, the Dead Sea, and the Jerusalem skyline are all simultaneously visible from an elevation of 817 metres.

Dead Sea
Your guide walks you to the shore, where you wade in, and the water's density, 34% salinity, ten times the concentration of ocean water lifts you off the bottom without effort. The surface sits 430 metres below sea level, the lowest accessible point on Earth.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

The drive south from Amman takes roughly three hours through the Rift Valley escarpment. Your guide enters the site with you.

Al Khazneh
Your guide leads you into the Siq, the 1.2-kilometre slot canyon where the walls close to 3 metres apart and rise 80 metres above the path, so that the first view of Al Khazneh appears through the canyon's end as a framed image. The Treasury's facade is 43 metres wide and 40 metres tall, carved directly from rose sandstone; the iron-oxide banding in the rock changes colour as the sun moves.

Royal Tombs
Walk east along the cliff face to the Urn Tomb, Silk Tomb, Corinthian Tomb, and Palace Tomb, four monumental facades cut into the same escarpment at different levels and scales across roughly 200 years of Nabataean construction.

Great Theatre
Descend to the theatre carved into the hillside between the 4th century BCE and 1st century CE, where 8,000 seats were cut directly from the rock in a design that fuses Nabataean craftsmanship with Roman amphitheatre geometry. The stage building is gone; the seating tiers and the rock-cut facade behind them remain.

Qasr al-Bint
Cross the colonnaded street to Petra's largest free-standing structure, a 23-metre-high temple dedicated to the principal Nabataean deity, Dushara. Construction dates to the 1st century BCE; the building stood for 400 years before an earthquake brought down its upper walls.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Final breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport, ending this 13 day Egypt and Jordan multi-city circuit. Travelers seeking a more upscale experience with Red Sea relaxation included can also explore our 14 Day Luxury Egypt Jordan Cairo, Hurghada & Petra Tour.
