Itinerary

Your private air-conditioned vehicle meets the family at Cairo Airport and handles transfers directly to the hotel, no waiting, no logistics to manage on arrival day.

Nile Dinner Cruise
Begin your family journey with a magical Nile Dinner Cruise perfect for all ages! Enjoy a delicious open buffet, dazzling folkloric shows, whirling Tanoura dancers, and the sparkling night views of Cairo’s skyline. It’s the ideal start to your journey, full of laughter, great food, and shared moments.

Meals
Dinner

After breakfast, your private Egyptologist guide collects the family from the hotel to explore the Giza Pyramid Complex and the Grand Egyptian Museum at a relaxed pace. Following the day's sightseeing, you'll transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan.

The Great Giza Pyramids
You'll stand at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu and understand immediately why no photograph prepares you for the scale: each of its 2.3 million stone blocks averages the weight of a small car. Your guide positions the family for unobstructed sightlines to all three pyramids before the site fills.

The Valley Temple
Enter through granite corridors built to receive the pharaoh's body during mummification, your guide explains the sequence of rituals that took place in this exact space, which keeps younger visitors anchored to the story rather than the architecture.

The Sphinx
You'll come face to face with the largest monolithic statue on earth, 73 metres long and carved from a single limestone ridge. Look for the remnants of original red paint still visible on the ear.

Grand Egyptian Museum
Your family moves through galleries housing over 100,000 artefacts, with the Tutankhamun collection as the centrepiece — 5,000 objects recovered from a single tomb, displayed together for the first time in the museum's purpose-built wing.

Meals
Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast boxes are prepared for an early departure from Aswan. The drive to Abu Simbel takes approximately three hours through open desert, and arriving before the main groups is the difference between a still morning at the temples and a crowded one. After lunch, a first-class train carries the family north to Luxor.

Abu Simbel Temples
You'll round the final bend, and the four seated colossi of Ramses II come into view at full height. Each face is 4 metres across. Your guide walks you inside the hypostyle hall, where the original painted reliefs of the Battle of Kadesh still cover the walls in detail, which holds children's attention longer than almost any other site on the tour.

Train to Luxor
After Abu Simbel, travel comfortably to Luxor by train. Your guide ensures comfort and a smooth journey throughout. Families who enjoy the scale and atmosphere of Abu Simbel but prefer a more temple-focused route can also compare this adventure with our Classic Abu Simbel overland tour, which spends more time exploring Upper Egypt's ancient monuments.

Meals
Breakfast and Lunch

After breakfast and checkout, your guide moves the family through Luxor's West Bank sites in the cooler morning hours before crossing to the East Bank for Karnak in the afternoon. The day closes with the flight back to Cairo.

Hatshepsut Temple
You'll approach across an open causeway toward three colonnaded terraces cut directly into the Deir el-Bahari cliffs — it reads as architecture first and a tomb second, which is exactly what Hatshepsut intended for the woman who ruled Egypt as pharaoh for over two decades.

Valley of the Kings
Your guide leads you down the cut-stone entrance corridor of one of the royal tombs, where ceiling paintings of the Amduat, the ancient Egyptian guide to the underworld, cover every surface in deep ochre and blue. The valley holds 63 confirmed tombs; your ticket grants access to three.

Colossi of Memnon
Stand between the two 18-metre quartzite statues that have marked the entrance to Amenhotep III's mortuary complex since 1350 BCE. They are the last visible remnant of what was once the largest temple in Egypt.

Karnak Temple
You'll walk into the Hypostyle Hall and find yourself inside a forest of 134 columns, the tallest reaching 21 metres. Your guide uses the columns' relative scale to explain why this complex took 30 successive pharaohs to complete.

Meals
Breakfast and Lunch

After breakfast and checkout from the Cairo hotel, your desert guide collects the family for the drive southwest toward Bahariya. This desert section creates a completely different family experience from Egypt's coastal holidays. Families seeking sightseeing and beach time may prefer our 7-day Cairo and Hurghada holiday, combining Cairo's landmarks with Red Sea relaxation.

Black Desert
You'll enter a landscape of low volcanic hills capped with dark ironstone, scattered across a pale sand floor. The contrast is stark enough that even young children ask what changed. Your guide explains the volcanic origin while the 4WD picks a route between the formations.

Bedouin Village El Hez
Your family stops at El Hez for a traditional desert shower experience with a Bedouin family, a reset between sites, and a genuine moment of contact with the community that has lived inside this landscape for centuries.

Crystal Mountain
Stand at a ridge of quartzite crystal that catches light differently at every angle. It is a small formation, but the density of the crystal is unusual enough that most families spend longer here than the schedule suggests.

Agabat Area and sandboarding
You'll climb a towering dune at Agabat and descend by board. The dunes here are steep enough to generate real speed, and the soft landing makes it workable for children aged 8 and above without safety concerns.

Sunset at the White Desert
Arrive in the late afternoon as the chalk formations shift from white to pink to deep orange in the last hour of light; some formations reach 10 metres and have been eroded into shapes that your children will spend the evening naming.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Wake to desert views, then move to the hot springs before the drive back. The return road gives a slow geographic reveal from desert to agriculture to city that is its own version of the week's journey in reverse.

Hot Springs Adventure
You'll lower into naturally heated mineral water in the open desert. The springs sit at around 30°C, and the surrounding landscape is empty in every direction, which makes this one of the quietest and most physically restorative stops on the entire 7-day family adventure Egypt tour. Drive back to Cairo while enjoying the changing landscapes from desert dunes to city life.

Meals
Breakfast and Lunch

Final breakfast at the hotel. The Tripidays team manages checkout and transfers the family to Cairo Airport for international departure.

This tour is designed specifically for active families with children aged 8 and above. The Egyptologist guide adapts storytelling at each site for younger visitors, and the itinerary is paced with comfort in mind. The sandboarding at Agabat and the desert camp overnight are consistently the most-remembered elements for children.
