    An early breakfast box is prepared on board before dawn. Your guide collects you at the dock and drives south through the open desert to Abu Simbel, approximately three hours each way. This is the excursion that defines the 5 day nile cruise with Abu Simbel: the temples are not visible from the road until you descend the final approach, and the reveal is total.

    Four colossal seated figures of Ramses II face the sunrise across the lake, each one 20 metres high, and at the equinoxes, the rising sun penetrates 60 metres into the mountain to illuminate three of the four seated statues in the innermost sanctuary. Your Egyptologist explains the solar alignment, the relocation engineering, and why the smaller adjacent temple is one of only two in Egyptian history dedicated by a pharaoh to his wife. This tour includes 4 nights full-board on a Nile cruise ship, a licensed Egyptologist guide on all five days, private air-conditioned transfers throughout, entrance fees to every site from Karnak to Philae, and the Abu Simbel day trip by private vehicle on Day 4. No domestic flights are required at any point in the itinerary.

Most 5 day Nile cruise packages cover Luxor and Aswan, but treat Abu Simbel as a separate optional excursion or require extending to seven nights to fit it in. This is the only 5 day Nile cruise departing Luxor that includes the Abu Simbel day trip within the sailing itinerary itself, no add-on booking, no extra nights.

On Day 4, while the cruise is moored at Aswan, your guide collects you early for a private road transfer south through the Nubian desert, approximately 280 kilometres each way, to the rock-cut temples of Ramses II, a UNESCO World Heritage Site relocated 65 metres uphill in the 1960s to save it from Lake Nasser. You return to the cruise the same day with no change to the sailing schedule.

The cruise boards in Luxor on the evening of Day 1 and sails south each night, docking at Edfu for Day 3, mooring at Aswan from Day 4 onward, and disembarking on Day 5 morning. All sightseeing departs from and returns to the ship at each mooring point. The cruise functions as both your transport and your accommodation for the full four nights.

No domestic flights are required or included. The entire route from Luxor to Aswan is covered by the Nile cruise itself, and the Abu Simbel excursion on Day 4 operates by private road transfer from Aswan. If you need flights from Cairo to Luxor at the start of your trip, those are international connections arranged separately.
