Itinerary

Your Tripidays guide meets you at Cairo International Airport, handles all transfer logistics, and takes you directly to your hotel. Once checked in, the evening begins on the water. To compare the full range of options, see all 5 day Egypt tour packages.

Nile Dinner Cruise
Your first evening in Egypt puts you on the Nile at night, the city's skyline lit on both banks while a traditional live show plays on deck. The cruise runs through central Cairo, the distance from the Corniche to the 6th of October Bridge and back gives you a full orientation of the city from the water, before a single temple has been entered.

Meals
Dinner

A domestic departure morning is not required for Day 2 stays in Cairo. Your guide collects you after breakfast for a full day on the Giza Plateau, then moves to the GEM before returning to the hotel.

The Pyramids of Giza
Stand at the base of the Great Pyramid, and the scale becomes physical rather than abstract: the structure is 146 metres tall and built from an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks, most weighing between 2.5 and 15 tonnes. Your guide will position you to take in all three pyramids from the plateau's western edge before moving through the complex.

Valley Temple of Khafra
You'll enter one of the best-preserved Old Kingdom structures still standing. The Valley Temple served as the ritual processing point for Khafra's funeral ceremonies, and its pink Aswan granite walls have held their form for 4,500 years. The scale inside is striking: the columns are monolithic, cut without joints.

The Great Sphinx
Face the Great Sphinx, the silent guardian of the Giza Plateau. This timeless monument, half-lion and half-pharaoh, has inspired curiosity for thousands of years.

The Grand Egyptian Museum
Next, visit the spectacular Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), home to the complete Tutankhamun collection and more than 100,000 artifacts. The museum’s modern design beautifully presents Egypt’s golden age.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 moves through the Citadel and into the medieval Islamic quarter, finishing at Khan El Khalili before your evening flight south.

Salah El Din Citadel
Continue to the Salah El Din Citadel, one of Cairo’s most important historical fortresses. Its high walls and panoramic views of Cairo make it a must visit landmark.

Mohamed Ali Mosque
Inside the Citadel, the Ottoman era Mohamed Ali Mosque is built entirely in alabaster below the dado line; the material catches the light differently from marble and gives the interior a warm, diffused quality. The central dome spans 21 metres; the two minarets outside are the tallest on the Cairo skyline at 84 metres each.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization
Explore NMEC, where you’ll discover Egypt’s full timeline from prehistoric ages to modern culture, including the hall of royal mummies.

Al Muizz Street
Al Muizz Street runs for approximately one kilometre through Fatimid Cairo and contains the highest concentration of medieval Islamic monuments in the world, including the Madrasa and Mausoleum of Sultan Barquq, the Sabil-Kuttab of Katkhuda, and the Mosque of Al-Aqmar. Your guide covers the architectural timeline as you walk south toward the bazaar.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar
Step into the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo's legendary souq. Here you can shop for handmade crafts, perfumes, jewelry, and unique souvenirs. For travellers wanting all three cities, see how this compares via Cairo, Luxor & Alexandria three cities.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Luxor holds roughly a third of the world's surviving ancient monuments within a 10-kilometre corridor on both banks of the Nile. Day 4 covers the West Bank tombs and funerary temples in the morning and the East Bank temple complexes in the afternoon. Your 5 day Cairo and Luxor temples cultural tour reaches its deepest Egyptology sessions here, and return flight from Luxor to Cairo. Transfer to the Cairo hotel for the final night

Valley of the Kings
Enter the legendary Valley of the Kings, the awe-inspiring burial ground of pharaohs. Explore beautifully painted tombs that reveal stories of life, death, and rebirth.

Hatshepsut Temple
Visit the extraordinary Temple of Hatshepsut, built to honor Egypt’s powerful female pharaoh. Its terraces, symmetry, and desert backdrop create an unforgettable scene.

Colossi of Memnon
Admire the Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues that have stood guard over the Theban necropolis for more than 3,400 years.

Karnak Temple
Continue to the magnificent Karnak Temple, the world’s largest temple complex. Walk through the mighty Hypostyle Hall, gaze at towering obelisks, and discover sacred shrines and courtyards.

Luxor Temple
Luxor Temple sits on the East Bank directly in the city, unlike Karnak, which occupies its own precinct north of town. Luxor Temple is embedded in the urban fabric and is illuminated after dark. The temple was begun by Amenhotep III and expanded by Ramesses II, who added the pylon and the two colossal seated statues flanking the entrance. The Abu el-Haggag Mosque, built within the temple's interior court in the 14th century, remains active and in use. The relationship between the pharaonic and Islamic layers is visible at a single glance from the entrance. To build on the Aswan monuments after Luxor, the option to extend to Aswan overland covers Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan's Philae Temple as a logical next step.

Meals
Breakfast, Lunch

Breakfast at your Cairo hotel. Checkout. Private vehicle transfer to Cairo International Airport for your onward flight. Those seeking Egypt's most dramatic temple complex can also add Abu Simbel to your Luxor visit, extending the route south to the colossal rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari.

Frequently Asked Questions
Booking 4–6 weeks in advance is ideal, especially during winter, Easter, and Christmas seasons when demand is high. Early booking ensures better hotel options and flight availability throughout your entire time in Egypt.
The package covers 4 nights in comfortable hotels (3 Cairo, 1 Luxor), daily breakfast, lunches on touring days, a private Egyptologist guide, domestic flights Cairo/Luxor/Cairo, entrance fees to all 12 listed sites, and private transfers throughout.
This tour is built around Egyptology depth rather than covering the guided sessions at Karnak, Luxor Temple, and the Valley of the Kings, which focus on hieroglyphic interpretation, dynastic sequencing, and structural history, not a standard walk-through. An Egyptology-focused 5 day deep-dive into Cairo and Luxor's temples, including extended guided sessions inside Karnak, Luxor Temple, and the Valley of the Kings.
The Valley of the Kings is the royal necropolis on Luxor's West Bank where 63 tombs were cut into the limestone cliffs between approximately 1539 and 1075 BC for pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Your Egyptologist guide covers the tomb wall programmes in detail; the painted scenes correspond to specific funerary texts, so the session runs as a reading of the walls rather than a visual overview.
On Day 3 evening, after Khan El Khalili, a private vehicle takes you from the bazaar directly to Cairo International Airport for the domestic flight to Luxor. Your guide accompanies you through the airport, and a second guide receives you at Luxor Airport for the hotel transfer. The handover is managed so there is no unaccompanied transit period.
