Iconic 8 Day Egypt and Morocco Vacation

Itinerary

  • Arc I · Cairo Arrival & Heritage

Cairo moves from a Nile dinner cruise to pyramids and historic quarters

  • Day 1: Cairo Arrival & Nile Dinner Cruise

Arrive in Cairo and meet your Tripidays representative at Cairo International Airport for assistance and a private transfer to your Cairo hotel. After check-in and time to settle in, enjoy a Nile dinner cruise in the evening before returning to your hotel for your first overnight in Egypt. This relaxed beginning sets the scene for your 8 day Egypt and Morocco tour, combining Cairo's ancient heritage with Morocco's historic cities as part of our Egypt plus other countries tours.

    Nile Dinner Cruise

You board as the sun fades over Cairo's skyline, with the Nile reflecting the lights of the city around you. During the cruise, enjoy dinner while watching Cairo's waterfront pass by, creating a relaxed first evening before the archaeological highlights begin the following morning.

  • Day 2: Giza Pyramids Complex & GEM

After breakfast, travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau for the defining highlights of your 8 day Egypt Morocco vacation. Explore the Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx before continuing to the Grand Egyptian Museum, then enjoy lunch and return to your Cairo hotel for an overnight stay.

    Pyramids of Giza

You stop at the first open viewpoint, and the three great pyramids fill the desert horizon. Built for Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the complex has remained one of the world's defining archaeological landscapes for more than 4,500 years.

    The Valley Temple

Step inside the Valley Temple of Khafre, where the journey from earthly life to eternal existence once began. Built from massive limestone blocks, this remarkably well-preserved temple served as a ceremonial site for purification and funerary rituals before the king's burial.

    Great Sphinx

You continue toward the Great Sphinx, where the enormous limestone figure lies facing the Giza Plateau. With the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, it remains one of ancient Egypt's most recognizable monuments.

    Grand Egyptian Museum

You enter one of Egypt's newest cultural landmarks, built beside the Giza Plateau to showcase the country's ancient heritage on an extraordinary scale. The museum brings together major collections spanning thousands of years of Egyptian history. Travelers who want to continue beyond Cairo and experience Upper Egypt can instead explore an Egypt and Morocco itinerary with a Nile Cruise, including Aswan, Luxor, and the major temples along the Nile.

    Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 3: Historic Cairo Discovery

After breakfast, continue your Egypt and Morocco tour 8 days with a different side of Cairo, moving from the ancient monuments of Giza into the city's museums, medieval architecture and historic markets. Visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Cairo Citadel and Mohamed Ali Mosque before exploring Al-Muizz Street and Khan El Khalili, then return to your Cairo hotel for your final overnight in the Egyptian capital.

    National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

You continue to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where Egypt's story is presented across different historical periods rather than focusing only on the pharaonic era.

    Citadel of Saladin

The Citadel rises above Cairo on a fortified hill overlooking the city. Built by Salah al-Din in the 12th century and expanded by later rulers, it became one of Cairo's most important centers of political power.

    Mohamed Ali Mosque

Inside the Citadel, the enormous Ottoman-style mosque dominates the skyline with its large central dome and slender minarets. From the surrounding terraces, Cairo spreads out below you.

    Al-Muizz Street

Your guide leads you into historic Cairo along Al Muizz Street, surrounded by medieval mosques, madrasas, gates and beautifully preserved Islamic architecture.

    Khan El Khalili

The final stop is Khan El Khalili, where narrow market lanes open into shops selling spices, jewelry, textiles, lanterns and traditional crafts. It is a chance to experience Cairo as a living city rather than only as an archaeological destination.

  • Arc II · Casablanca to Rabat

Morocco begins with Casablanca's coast before Rabat's royal landmarks

  • Day 4: Fly From Cairo to Casablanca

After breakfast, check out from your Cairo hotel and transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight to Casablanca. Upon arrival, meet your local representative and transfer to your Casablanca hotel for check-in and overnight, marking the beginning of the Moroccan chapter of your 8 days Egypt Morocco tour. If this is your first time visiting Morocco, our Morocco travel guide for first-time visitors provides useful context for what to expect as you begin exploring the country.

    Breakfast

  • Day 5: Discover Casablanca & Rabat

After breakfast, begin your Cairo, Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech tour with sightseeing in Casablanca before traveling by private vehicle to Rabat, Morocco's capital. Visit the Hassan II Mosque and Casablanca's coastal area, then continue to Rabat for the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Royal Palace area, and Kasbah of the Udayas before checking in to your Rabat hotel.

    Hassan II Mosque

You arrive beside the Atlantic to see the Hassan II Mosque rising dramatically above the coastline. Its enormous prayer hall, detailed Moroccan craftsmanship, and oceanfront setting make it one of Casablanca's defining landmarks.

    Casablanca Corniche

Continue along the Atlantic Corniche, where the city opens toward the ocean. The waterfront provides a completely different atmosphere from Cairo's inland Nile setting.

    Rabat

Leave Casablanca behind and continue to Rabat, Morocco's capital. The city feels more measured and ceremonial, with historic monuments and fortified neighborhoods reflecting its long political and royal history.

    Hassan Tower

You walk among the remains of the unfinished Hassan Mosque, where the monumental Hassan Tower rises above the surrounding square. Construction began in the 12th century under Almohad ruler Yaqub al-Mansur.

    Mausoleum of Mohammed V

Nearby, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V stands as an important example of modern Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship. Its white exterior and richly decorated interior contrast with the unfinished stonework of Hassan Tower.

    Kasbah of the Udayas

The day continues into the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortified neighborhood overlooking the Bou Regreg River and Atlantic Ocean. Its narrow lanes and whitewashed architecture offer a quieter glimpse of historic Rabat.

    Royal Palace of Rabat

Continue to the Royal Palace of Rabat, known as Dar al-Makhzen, the official residence of Morocco’s monarch in the capital. Built in 1864, the palace stands within a guarded royal complex framed by formal gates and spacious ceremonial grounds. Although visitors generally cannot enter the palace itself, its grand exterior offers a glimpse into Morocco’s enduring royal traditions and the importance of Rabat as the country’s political capital.

    Meals

    Breakfast, Lunch

  • Arc III · Rabat to Marrakech

Travel south to Marrakech for palaces, souks and Jemaa el-Fna

  • Day 6: Travel From Rabat to Marrakech

After breakfast, check out from your Rabat hotel and travel by private vehicle toward Marrakech, moving from Morocco's political capital to the famous Red City. After arriving, check in to your Marrakech hotel and enjoy time to relax or explore independently before your overnight stay. This transition highlights the flexibility of an Egypt Morocco holiday package, while travelers seeking more time in Egypt can choose a longer Egypt and Morocco overland journey that adds Luxor and Aswan without making a Nile cruise the centerpiece.

    Meals

    Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 7: Marrakech Medina, Palaces & Jemaa el-Fna

After breakfast, explore the historic heart of Marrakech on the final full sightseeing day of your 8 day Egypt and Morocco itinerary. Discover Bahia Palace and the Koutoubia Mosque before entering the Medina and its traditional souks, then experience the changing atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna as the day moves toward evening. Travelers looking to add Morocco's desert landscapes can continue their journey with an Egypt and Morocco adventure extending into the Sahara. Return to your Marrakech hotel for your final overnight in Morocco.

    Bahia Palace

You enter Bahia Palace through a series of courtyards decorated with carved wood, painted ceilings, colorful tilework, and intricate stucco. The palace provides an intimate look at the craftsmanship of 19th-century Morocco.

    Koutoubia Mosque

The Koutoubia Mosque rises above the Marrakech skyline with its distinctive minaret. Although visitors who are not Muslim cannot enter the mosque itself, the surrounding gardens and exterior provide one of the city's most recognizable views.

    Marrakech Medina

You continue into the historic Medina, where narrow lanes twist between old houses, riads, workshops and small cafés. The experience is less about reaching a single monument and more about watching everyday Marrakech unfold around you.

    Marrakech Souks

The souks branch away from the main streets into a maze of artisan workshops and small stores. Spices, leather, textiles, metalwork and traditional crafts create a constantly changing scene as you move through the market.

    Jemaa el-Fna

As the sun begins to fall, finish the day at Jemaa el-Fna, Marrakech's famous central square. The atmosphere changes after dark as food stalls appear and the square fills with sounds, aromas and activity.
